Abusive relationships come in many forms and there is never a time like Christmas for them to be more evident.

Marketers promote this vision of Christmas of this perfect family that is full of joy, cheer and love.

Sadly, the world health organisation estimates that the larger majority of families in the West are ‘dysfunctional’; to put it politely.

This may go some way to explain why such high percentages of people are on anti-depressants and despite the advancement in modern medicine more and more women suffer from Endometriosis..

I look back to the farcical that was our old family Christmases.

The arguments and upsets would perhaps be put on hold for the day. And maybe even Boxing Day too — if we were lucky.

Unconsciously, I was drawn to similar partners and this pattern would be repeated.
